Confidentiality

Confidential Matters

Confidentiality is critical to counsellor and client trust. Confidentiality means that all the information you have told me will remain private and confidential between you and I. I will ensure that no person has access to this information either electronically, manually or verbally.

Should I need to discuss any disclosed matter with my counselling supervisor as part of my continuing professional development, I will seek your consent first. No identifying name or descriptive information will be given.

Everything you say to me is confidential unless there is a risk of self-harm or harm to others at which point I will need to seek external professional advice. Before any confidential information is shared it is my duty as outlined by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), to inform you that I am planning to do this.
